LEMA carried out such an exercise on a actual case. During the preparation of the TERIA project, the installation of an active window or barrier had been undertaken in Vernier near Geneva International Airport. In particular, the local council of Vernier made available an office where the exposure to noise from aircraft taking off was a real nuisance to office workers, especially in summer when they could not even open the windows due to the noise.

With the agreement of the Vernier council, the installation of an active window was undertaken. The main point of interest was to establish the conditions necessary for installation and equipment specifications. It was demonstrated that the placement of loudspeakers inside the room is the best solution for the low frequency band.
